PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PHS portable terminal with a GPS function where position information based on the PHS function or position information based on the GPS function is properly selected and utilized. SOLUTION: The PHS portable terminal PS can receive a position information retrieval service where the terminal PS informs about the location of the connected PHS cell site CS is sent to a master set as current position information when the terminal PS is located in a service area zone of the PHS cell site CS. The terminal PS is provided with a PHS transmission reception section 2, a GPS reception section 7, a radio transmission reception section 9, and a control means 3 that controls the current position information from the GPS reception section 7 so that the information is transmitted via the radio transmission reception section 9 when the terminal PS is located outside the service area zone of the PHS cell site CS.
