PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form precisely shaped protrusions and thereby enhancing the antiskid effect of a mat by constituting a roll of a core with numerous recessed grooves formed along the outer periphery and a porous sleeve fitted onto the outside of the core and further making the pores of the porous sleeve communicate with the recessed grooves of the core. SOLUTION: The roll 3 is constituted of a core 4 and a porous sleeve 5 fitted onto the outside of the core 4. The core 4 is hollow so that a cooling water is made to flow through internally and has numerous recessed grooves 7 formed along the outer periphery. The porous sleeve 5 has numerous through holes 6, each consisting of a funnel-shaped part outside and a straight cylinder part inside. The recessed grooves 7 of the core 4 are arranged at a smaller interval than the innermost dia. of the holes 6. A heat-softened synthetic resin sheet 1 is fed into a space between the roll 3 and a backup roll 9 to form protrusions 2 on the back face of the sheet 1. During forming the protrusions 2, the protrusions 2 are precisely formed without receiving an air interference by evacuating air from the holes 6 to the outside through the recessed grooves 7. |
