PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent optical module capable of sharply reducing a waveguide loss, and suitably dealing with high frequencies by forming an optical wave guide at a high position and a method for manufacturing this optical module, and to provide an optical module having a suitable alignment function by solder bump and a method for manufacturing this optical module. SOLUTION: An optical waveguide 2 is constituted by laminating at least a core layer 2c whose diffractivity is higher than that of a clad layer 2a on the clad layer 2a, and an optical element 6 is arranged through an adhesive layer 3 on a substrate 1, and a frame-shaped body W whose upper face is symmetrically shaped to the optical axial projection of the optical waveguide is arranged in the surrounding of the adhesive layer 3. |
