PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an easily applicable light-stability improving agent capable of substantially and remarkably improving a photochemical stability and useful for cosmetic use, etc., by combining a benzal malonate silane with a dibenzoylmethane derivative. SOLUTION: The objective agent is produced by adding an active amount of at least one kind of benzal malonate silane of formula I [R1 to R3 are each a (halogenated) 1-10C alkyl or phenyl; R4 and R5 are each H, hydroxyl, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; R6 and R7 are each a 1-8C alkyl; (a) is 0 or 1; Y is a bivalent group corresponding to formula II (R8 is H or a 1-5C alkyl; (p) is 1-10), etc.], to a light-shielding cosmetic composition containing a dibenzoylmethane derivative (preferably 2-methyldibenzoylmethane, 4-methyldibenzoylmethane, etc.).
