PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely support the head of a sitting person at a normal time or at the time of rear-end collision by vertically adjusting a head rest in head rest fixing structure fixing a head rest to the side of a seat back so that the head rest may move forward at the time of being struck from behind. SOLUTION: The stays 5 of the head rest 9 are inserted to holders 4, the holders 4 are mounted to the back frame 1 of the seat back in the state of being freely rotatable backward and forward and pushing up rods 3 rotating the upper parts of the holders 4 forward by backward moving of a shock receiving plate 2 are inserted from the lower side of the holders 4.
