PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the mixture of air into hydraulic oil for a vane pump in a simple and compact structure. SOLUTION: A vane pump includes side plates 28R, 30 stored in a casing 22, a cam ring 29R and a rotor 32R. The radial outer end of a vane 35 slidably fitted into a vane groove 321 in the rotor 32R abuts the inner periphery of the cam ring 29R. A reservoir 45R formed of a hollow elastic material filled with gas is stored in a recess 221 formed in the casing 22 abutting the back of the side plate 28R. When hydraulic oil in the casing is expanded with the increase of a temperature, the reservoir 45R is contracted, and when the hydraulic oil in the casing 22 is contracted with the decrease of a temperature the reservoir 45R is expanded, so that the mixture of air in the hydraulic oil can be prevented.
