PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which a tunnel of an underground railway is constructed under an aboveground railway, extending along the aboveground railway. SOLUTION: A shield tunnel 24 in a rectangular section is constructed in the ground under a track 16 of an aboveground railway so that the tunnel extends along the track. After that, a tunnel 14 for an underground railway is constructed under the shield tunnel 24. As occasion demands, a shield tunnel 34 in a rectangular section extending along the track is constructed under a location whereat the tunnel for the underground railway is to be constructed, and construction of these tunnels is executed between continuous underground walls 20 constructed beforehand on both sides.
