PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sales management device for automatic vending machine, efficiently using an inexpensive EEPROM for the backup of sales management data for long time. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a controller main body executing the sales processing of articles based on article management data and updating the article management data, and an external memory which is formed of EEPROM whose number of writing times on data is limited and is used for the preservation of the article management data when the power of the controller main body is turned off. Especially in the controller main body, the external memory is managed by being divided into plural pages, and the article management data and the number (m) of writing times are written with one page as a unit. When the number (m) of writing times, which is written in the semiconductor memory, reaches a prescribed value M, the page into which the article management data is written is updated.
