PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate initialization of a valve system in engine starting, and reduce electric power consumption by arranging a stopper for holding intake/ exhaust valves in an almost valve closing state against a valve opening side spring member in a valve system for electromagnetically opening/closing the intake/exhaust valves by cooperation of electromagnets and spring members. SOLUTION: A stopper 12 is arranged to hold a valve element 1 in an almost valve closing state against energizing force of a coil spring 7 by engaging with either one of a spring seat 9 of the valve opening side coil spring 7, a spring shaft 9a, an armature 4, an armature shaft 4a or a valve stem 1a, for example, the under surface of the spring sheet 9 in a state where the valve element 1 of a valve system 2 is closed once at enging stopping time. That is, the stopper 12 is fixed to the lower end of a rotary shaft 13, and this stopper 12 is arranged so as to be rotatable to a lock position for engaging with the under surface of the spring seat 9 and a lock release position dislocated from the under surface of the spring seat 9 through the rotary shaft 13 by actuation of a driving means 14. |
