PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent collision between heads even when a conventionally unexpected large impact force is applied, and to attain miniaturization and thinning with respect to a disk device provided with a pair of heads disposed to hold a recording medium therebetween. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a holder 5 for holding a disk cartridge 4 inserted therein, a slider 14 for moving this holder 15 between a non-recording/reproducing position and a specified recording/reproducing position, lower and upper heads 10 and 12, a shock absorbing member 20 disposed in the holder to move forward/backward between the heads 10 and 12, and a moving lever 30 and a coil spring 29 for moving the shock absorbing member 20 between the heads 10 and 12 during non-recording/reproducing time, and retreating the same from between the heads 10 and 12 during recording/ reproducing time. Further, the moving lever 30 is provided with an engaging portion 37 extending in the holder 5, and only when the disk cartridge 4 is correctly inserted into the holder 5, the engaging portion 37 is pressed to the disk cartridge 4 to move, and the shock absorbing member 20 is moved.
