MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium provided with magnetic recording layers having fixed magnetic information with which the erasing and rewriting by a magnetic head and the erasing by a strong magnetic field are difficult and is sufficiently high in reading magnetic output and a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: A magnetic coating material containing a magnetic material having coercive force within a range of 250 to 5000 Oe is applied on a base material and is dried to form a first magnetic layer 3a. After this first magnetic layer 3a is subjected to desired magnetic recording, a magnetic coating material containing the magnetic material consisting of a metal alloy and metal compound having the coercive force within the range of 6000 to 20000 Oe is applied on the first magnetic layer and is dried to form the second magnetic layer 3b having the fixed magnetic information consisting of the magnetized patterns magnetically transferred with the magnetic recording patterns of the first magnetic layer, by which the magnetic recording layer 3 consisting of the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer is formed.
