PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unsaturated polyester resin composition that gives the formed products excellent gloss and uniform coloration from inexpensive raw materials without deterioration in the elasticity of the formed product, the forming material and the formed products. SOLUTION: In the production process for this unsaturated polyester, (A) poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) in an a-molar amount (the moles of the 2,6- naphthalene-dicarboxylic acid component included in the molecule), (B) anα,β-unsaturated polybasic acid or its acid anhydride in a b-molar amount, (C) a saturated polybasic acid or its acid anhydride in a c-molar amount and (D) a polyhydric alcohol in a d-molar amount are formulated so that a/(a+b+c) may be 0.05/1-0.9/1, (a+d)/(a+b+c) may be 1/1-3/1 and the resultant mixture is allowed to react with one another.
