PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joy stick capable of surely detecting the operability of a joy stick operating knob even when an interval between an operation panel and a printed board is long. SOLUTION: When the joy stick operating knob 28 is inclined, operating direction detecting switches 10a, 10b, etc., fit to the printed board 2 are operated through an oscillatable intermediate member 14 to which an intermediate part 15 is supported by a supporting member 11, so that even when the interval between the panel 1 and the board 2 is long, a manipulated variable can surely be detected by the inclination quantity of the knob 28 which is similar to a case that the interval is short.
