PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic control type fuel injector for monitoring the current waveform of a spill valve current to regulate a timing of the spill valve current to be applied in accordance with a difference between a peak value for the spill valve current and a proper current value. SOLUTION: This electronic control type fuel injector 1 for a diesel engine 2 compares the current waveform of a spill valve current detected by a spill valve current detecting means for detecting the spill valve current flowing in an electromagnetic coil 24 for driving an electromagnetic spill valve 23 with a target spill valve current stored in a storage means for regulating a start timing of a current to be applied to the electromagnetic coil 24 at the next injection timing in accordance with the difference.
