PURPOSE:To accomplish polymer particle dyeing easily and densely in high dyeing efficiency without influencing the properties of the polymer particles by mixing a specific dye emulsion with water as medium with a polymer particle emulsion. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, (A) a dye insoluble in water but soluble in oily organic solvent (pref. azo dye or anthraquinone dye, containing no or few hydrophilic groups) is dissolved in an oily organic solvent (e.g. toluene, methylene chloride) at a level of 5-300g per liter of the solvent into a dye solution, which is then finely dispersed in an aqueous medium in the presence of a surfactant and/or dispersion stabilizer, thus preparing a dye emulsion. Then, (B) polymer particles to be dyed are dispersed in an aqueous medium to prepare a polymer particle emulsion having a polymer particle concentration of 10-300g per liter (C). The emulsion A is the mixed with the emulsion B followed by, if needed, removing the oily organic solvent from the system, thus obtaining the objective dyed polymer particles. |
