PURPOSE: An image rotation method using chain code is provided to reduce execution time and minimize required quantity of memory by abstracting chain to express outline from input image, moving the chain first, and converting chain inside. CONSTITUTION: A chain code is abstracted from input image, and then chain code is rotated as much as angle provided, and then distortion of chain code generated when rotating is removed, and then chain code rotated and internal pixel is converted into image. This image rotation method minimize distortion of image by correcting the part of distortion as well as reserving chain connection when rotating chain code. Above the first step includes the step to abstract outline from input image and the step to abstract code by chains from above outline abstracted. Black pixel is located at left considering outside line point to be met at first as starting point, searching in orders from left image of input image, and then code is made at the direction of next outline point.
