PURPOSE: A method for adjusting velocity of CPU of computer system is provided to set a velocity of a CPU as a software without an adjustment of a physical switch. CONSTITUTION: Four strapping pins of a CPU are at a high level because of a third resistor(R3) when a power of a computer system is turned on. A velocity of the CPU is operated two times faster than a bus clock(BUSCLK). The velocity of the CPU is automatically set when setting up by an alternation of the CPU. One value among set values is indicated in the menu when a user performs a setup menu for changing the velocity of the CPU. A value selected by a user is stored in a specific region of a CMOS RAM and is used as the velocity of the CPU when user selects a desired value among values idicated in the menu.
