PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a multi layer display is provided to embody the multi layer display using a small buffer in size only CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a multi layer display includes a buffer, a register, a multiplexer, and a part(112, 212) for controlling a priority order. The buffer can store a picture data (PIC1-PIC3) of amount necessary to output of one scene and is inputted the picture data of one scene from a frist storage unit in which a large number of picture data is stored and stores. The register stores each address of the large number of picture data. The multiplexer is inputted the large number of picture data from the register and selects one address according to a value of a selection signal and outputs to the first storage unit. The part for controlling a priority order is stored each output coordinate of the large number of picture data and decides the value of the selection signal according to each output coordinate and outputs to the multiplexer.
