PURPOSE: A printer driver and its downloading method are provided to prevent damages and data losses generated by circulating a printer driver through a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A printer(10) is composed of a main controller(11), an engine controller(12), a print engine(13), a manipulation panel(14), an indicator(15), a memory device(16) and a communication adaptor(17). Herein, the main controller processes a key signal input from the manipulation panel and data transmitted from a user's computer by reading. In addition, it converts the received print data to bit map image data proper to the print engine and passes the data to the engine controller and transmits data related to a work list waited in the printer, status data and so on to the user's computer through a communication interface. If there is a demand for downloading, the main controller performs the transmission process of the data to download a printer driver file to the user's computer of the demanded object.
