PURPOSE: A shroud for an outdoor unit of an air conditioner is provided to promote the reduction in noise as well as to increase the airflow by properly setting the horizontal distance between a shroud and an axial flow fan and the distance between the front face and the curved end of the shroud. CONSTITUTION: A shroud(60) is formed in an annular form in an air conditioner. An inner unit(61), the end of an axial flow fan(54) is curved toward the fan while an outer unit(62), the opposite end of the fan gets wider toward outside. Also, the inner unit of the shroud is formed to be equalized with the flow direction of air while the outer unit is curved in an U shape to be attached to an outlet of a cabinet. The horizontal distance between the shroud and the axial flow fan influences the ventilation of the axial flow fan. Therefore, the shroud is able to improve the ventilation and to reduce noise through the proper horizontal distance between the shroud and the axial flow fan.
