PURPOSE: A benzo crown ether derivative compound having thiazole ring useful as a host material in the host-guest chemistry application is provided for improving selectivity to ammonium ion to enable it effective as ionic bonding material to ammonium ion and derivatives thereof in various applications including determination of ammonium ion content in body fluid such as blood or urine or water. CONSTITUTION: The benzo crown ether derivative compound called "coronand" and derivatives thereof having thiazole ring for having excellent selectivity to ammonium ion then efficiently determining the content of ammonium ion in body fluid or water is defined in formulas 1 or 2 (wherein W represents hydrogen atom, alkoxy carbonyl, nitro, amino or alkyl group having C1-C20) is provided by mixing the coronand compound with suitable supporting agent, plasticizer or lipophilic additives to form a host material useful in the host-guest chemistry. The coronand compound is preferably selected from bis(5,16-thiazolyl-1,2,10,11-benzene)coronand 18-C-16, 1,2-benzene-5,16-dithiazolyl-10,11- (4'-carbomethoxy)benzene coronand 18-C-16 and 1,2-benzene-5,17-dithiazolyl-10,12- carbomethoxy coronand 19-C-6.
