PURPOSE:To provide a process for producing an optically active glycerol ester having acyl group at 1-site. CONSTITUTION:1-o-acyl-3-o-p-methoxybenzyl-sn-glycerol is produced by reacting (S)-epichlorohydrin with p-methoxybenzyl alcohol in heterogeneous system using a specific quaternary ammonium salt as a catalyst and reacting the resultant (S)-1-p-methoxybenzyl-oxy-2,3-epoxypropane with a fatty acid using a quaternary ammonium salt as a catalyst. The objective optically active 1-o-acyl-sn-glycerol derivative useful as a precursor for various physiologically active glycerol derivatives can be produced in high yield by the two-stage reaction process via an intermediate using specific catalysts. |
