THE MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR WIRE DRAWING HYPEREUTECTOID WIRE ROD

PURPOSE: A method is provided to manufacture a Si contained hypereutectoid steel wire rod having the fine structure which is suitable for wire drawing by controlling alloy constituents of a high Si contained hypereutectoid steel wire rod and applying this to a continuous controlling cooling range, thereby restraining the generation of proeutectoid cementite and martensite influencing adverse effects on the wire drawing during cooling. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing a hypereutectoid wire rod for wire drawing comprises the processes of hot rolling a steel comprising 0.8 to 1.2 wt.% of C, 0.2 to 2.0 wt.% of Si, 0.6 to 0.9 wt.% of Mn, 0.01 wt.% or less of S, 0.01 wt.% or less of P and a balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities; and cooling the hot rolled steel at a temperature of 850 to 950 deg.C which is from an initial cooling temperature to an initiation temperature of pearlite transformation in the range of cooling rate which is more than the cooling rate of the following formula 1 and less than the cooling rate of the following formula 2, wherein formula 1 is %C=0.125log(cooling rate)+0.95, and formula 2 is %Si=-2.188log(cooling rate)+2.89.
