摘要 PURPOSE: A Viterbi decoder using a minimum displacement state value and a method thereof are respectively provided to improve a gain of the Viterbi decoder by restricting a path matrix value within a limit value. CONSTITUTION: The Viterbi decoder using a minimum displacement state value includes the first computation part and the second computation part. The first computation part includes the first minimum value selecting part and the first subtracter. The first minimum value selecting part(105) selects a minimum value among the plurality of branch matrix values which are respectively computed by the plurality of distance calcutrators(101,102,103,104). The first subtractors(106,107,108,109) subtract the minimum value from each of the plurality of branch matrix values. The second computation part includes the second minimum value selecting part and the second subtracter. The second minimum value selecting part selects a minimum value among previous path matrix values outputted from a memory. The second subtracter subtracts the value selected by the second minimum value selecting part from the value selected by the first subtracter.
