The invention relates inter alia to a method for the biotechnological production of ligand binding fragments of subunits of neuroreceptors and hormone receptors in isolated native form. Said method comprises the following steps: expression of the fragments; solubilization of the fragments, especially those contained in inclusion bodies; removal of the denaturing agent required for solubilization; renaturation of the fragments and removal of the agent required for renaturation, wherein the neuroreceptors are from the supergene family of ligand regulated pentameric ion channels.
