PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour correction device which enhances sharpness of the contour of an original video signal without addition of a pre-shoot/ overshoot component and to provide the contour correction device that corrects the contour, without losing a property or a structure of a signal waveform of the original video signal. SOLUTION: An input video signal S1 from an input terminal 1 is given to a correction component generating circuit 4 and a gain adjustment circuit 5, which outputs a contour correction component. Since the component includes a pre-shoot/overshoot component, an amplitude limit circuit 9 limits the pre- shoot/overshot component. An angle change detection circuit 6 obtains the angle of a signal waveform, based on amplitude difference values of adjacent sample data from the video signal S1 and intervals of the sampled data that are received from delay circuits 3(1)...3(n+1), a limit angle generating circuit 7 decides the upper and lower limit of a limit angle based on the output of the circuit 6, and a limit value generating circuit 8 generates the amplitude limit value. |
