<p>The method concerns loading of granular materials, in particular, hot sponge iron into a melting furnace (3), in particular, an electric arc furnace, by delivering it through at least one channel (9) entering into the furnace from above. In the end region (10) of the channel the material (together with its fine constituents) is subjected to a very intense acceleration by injection of a transport gas. The slag cover on the molten metal is pierced by the jet of the accelerated material which thus in its entirety enters into the molten metal. The appts. is characterised by the presence of a transport gas injector (13) located in the end region (10) of the channel (9). The gas injector (13) is oriented in the same direction as the end section of the material delivery channel. A pivotable chute (19) with a cooling system is attached to the end of the delivery channel. The end region (10) of the delivery channel is provided with a cooling system (24) in the form of a water-cooled shield.</p> |
