PROCESS FOR PREPARING EPOXY RESIN REINFORCED BY POLYTRIMETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE

PURPOSE: Epoxy resin is provided which has a good physical and mechanical property and improved tenacity. CONSTITUTION: Preheated 70-95 weight % of epoxy resin such as bisphenol A type, tetraglycidyl ether type or polyalkylene glycol type epoxy resin and 5-30 weight % of polytrimethylene terephthalate are melted and cured by curing agent such as diphenyl diamine sulfone, ethylene diamine, ethylene triamine or organic anhydride at 80-230°C to give the epoxy resin. Thus, 95 g of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A of formula 1 is preheated to 220°C, followed by addition of 5 g polymethylene terephthalate powder. Obtained compound is cooled to 140°C, and cured by diphenyl diamine sulfon as curing agent with equivalent of the epoxy resin at 220°C for 3 hours to give the epoxy resin.
