PURPOSE: A system and method for controlling a power save mode are provided to control the power save mode using a signal inputted from a remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling a power save mode includes a power switch(20) for selectively cutting-off input power and a high frequency oscillator(21) cooperating with the power switch(20) to generate high frequency clock. A power backup part is provided to charge input power. A low frequency oscillator(22) generates a low frequency clock using power charged in the power backup part. A multiplexer(23) selectively outputs one of the high and low clocks. A microcomputer(24) controls the multiplexer(23) and the power switch(20) according to a key input signals at a drive speed corresponding to the output clock.
