PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect continuity and mounting conditions of a retainer and a connector. SOLUTION: An inspecting part 32 mounted upward with an inspection connector 35 having an upright tablike inspection piece 40 is provided in one side of a base 31, and a movable part 33 provided with a first probe 50A for sensing the propriety of insertion of an inspected connector 1, and a second probe 50B for sensing the propriety of mounting of a retainer 6 is arranged in the other side to allow approaching and separating. When the movable part 33 is approached after the inspected connector 1 is inserted into the inspecting connector 35 from its upper side, advancing and retreating pins 51A, 51B abut respectively to detecting parts 17, 20 to be retreated when the inspected connector 1 and the retainer 6 are mounted normally, and switches 52A, 52B are turned on to close a mounting inspecting circuit. When either of them is not normal, the pin 51A or the 51B is not retreated, the switch 52A or the switch 52B is kept in an OFF condition, and the mounting inspection circuit is left in an oppened condition.
