PURPOSE: Provided is a method for manufacturing porous polymer particles at low cost which are useful for medical as well as industrial purposes by attaching a substituent group to the polymer particles. CONSTITUTION: Porous polymer particles are manufactured by the next steps: i) mixing mediators such as hydrophobic and hydrophilic monovinyl monomers, dispersion stabilizer, initiator, divinyl monomers, diluent, distilled water, and sheathe polymers in solution; ii) swelling the sheathe polymers uniformly dispersed in the solution with the diluent to dissolve the mediators; iii) heating the solution for polymerization; and iv) washing the mediators with organic solvent and water to eliminate unreacted monomers, sheathe, diluent, and dispersion stabilizer.
