The aim of the invention is to provide an improved method for the start/stop control of an automobile. To this end, the invention provides for a method for the start/stop control of an automobile with an automated clutch with the characteristics described in patent claim no. 1. The advantage of the invention is that when the automobile comes to a standstill, and it is not in gear although the engine is still running, the engine is automatically switched off after the automobile has remained in this state for a predetermined period of time, e.g. 5 seconds. This reduces fuel consumption, as well as emissions and noise. Advantageously, the inventive method can be carried out using a simple logic. The driver of the automobile retains control over the process. The engine is not switched off if the automobile is in gear. The engine is advantageously automatically restarted when the driver selects a gear with the clutch disengaged and if the requirement that the engine has already been activated once by the driver has been satisfied. |
