PURPOSE: An automatic tunning system of a television set is provided exact channel selection by using ATS(Automatic Tuning System) data. CONSTITUTION: A micro-computer perceives(302S) a television set turning on(301S) and receives an ATS(Automatic Tuning System) function selection signal. The micro-computer judges the ATS signal and detect(305S) a PDC(Program Delivery Code)/VPS(Video Programmable System) signal. After receiving(306S) the PDC/VPS signal, the micro-computer keeps the previous ATS signal, searches a present ATS signal, and performs the ATS function(307S). Accepting an ATS stop key before completing the ATS function, the micro-computer erases the present ATS signal and selects(310S) a channel by using previous ATS data. The micro-computer contains the present ATS data and chooses(309S) a channel if the micro-computer does not receive an ATS stop key before finishing the ATS function. Following the steps, the micro-computer accomplishes an ATS action using a PDC/VPS data until television set turns off.
