PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing device having a heat developing drum which exhibits small temp. change at the time of heat developing treatment and is rapidly heated to a prescribed temp. when the device is allowed to start. SOLUTION: A temp. controller 102 calculates temp. change of a heat developing drum 84 from the surface temp. of the heat developing drum 84, measured by a temp. sensor 122. Further, the temp. controller 102 judges that to which of the patterns of temp. change obtained when the heat developing device is allowed to start, at the time of standing by, when the heat developing treating is allowed to start, at the time of recovering from the temp. falling by heat developing treatment and at the time of preventing overshoot, which patterns are stored in ROM, this temp. change calculated corresponds, and selects the control function corresponding to the selected pattern from the control functions A, B, C, D and E and output a signal to SSR(solid state relay) 104 according to the corresponding control function. The SSR 104 is kept in the electroconductive state and an electric power is supplied from an alternating current power source 106 to a heater 100, only during the signal is inputted.
