NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte battery with a charge-discharge voltage under 2 V set by the use of a niobium pentoxide in a positive electrode capable of suppressing such defect as the occurrence of liquid leakage or a steep rise of the internal resistance originating from gas generating or the positive electrode being turned in particulates to occur in an over-discharged condition. SOLUTION: A non-aqueous electrolyte battery is composed of a positive electrode 5 chiefly containing niobium pentoxide, a negative electrode 6 capable of making lithium doping and dedoping, and a non-aqueous electrolytic solution using lithium salt as a solute, wherein the non-aqueous electrolytic solution is formed by dissolving the solute in a solvent containing ethylene carbonate, and the discharge capacity of the negative electrode 6 discharged at 0.1 mA/cm2 is set smaller than the discharge capacity of the positive electrode 5 discharged with a discharge current of 0.1 mA/cm2 till attaining 1.0 V from 2.6 V with respect to the lithium potential.
