PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position measurement method capable of eliminating a measurement function defect caused by a radio wave obstaction having a traveling object as a measurement target. SOLUTION: The image pick-up direction of an image pick-up device 1 that is installed at the upper portion of a tower and is mounted on a gimbal 2 is allowed to constantly follow the move of a measurement object 3 via the gimbal 2, and the image of the measurement object 3 is picked up continuously without any interruption by the image pick-up device 1. The image position of the measurement object 3 in the image pick-up screen of the image pick-up device, a pitch angle and a yaw angle in the direction of the image pick-up of the image pick-up device 1, and the focusing distance of the optical system of the image pick-up device 1, the installation height of the image pick-up device 1, and the like are used for performing operation processing, thus constantly and stably performing position measurement for the measurement object 1 without being interrupted, for example, by radio wave obstruction.
