The crank assembly has a driving crank (2) and a driven chainwheel (3). They are coupled through an axis (18) and the position of the pivot points (19,16,18) uses the principal of an Archimedian lever. The driving crank acts as a lever that turns with its shaft (15) in a housing (6) threaded into a case. The axis is arranged at one end of the crank, and the pedal attachment point is arranged at the other end of the crank. The assembly is designed to be housed in a standard bicycle frame. The driven chainwheel carries a chain that drives the gear pinion of the driven wheel.
