PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain photographing while transferring and recording image data to an outside recording media. SOLUTION: This electronic still camera is provided with a grip part 37 for photographing a horizontal position and a shutter release button 36 arranged at the front face side of a camera main body at the upper part of the grip part 37, and a subject is image-formed on an image pickup element by a photographic lens so that photographing can be attained. This grip part 37 is provided with a processing circuit for processing an image signal from the image pickup element, interface circuit for transferring the image data processed by the processing circuit to an outside recording medium, and receptacle 35 connected with the interface circuit for transferring the image data to the outside recording medium. The receptacle 35 is arranged at a recessed part 39 formed on a side face 38 of the grip part 37 which is positioned in the oblique down part of the shutter release button 36, and the depth of the recessed part 39 is set so that when a connector cable 40 for transferring an image is connected with the receptacle 35, it can be prevented from being projected on the surface of the camera main body.
