PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a picture through the use of ink material most suitable to the received monochromatic picture or the color picture. SOLUTION: Whether received picture data are a color picture or a monochromatic picture is discriminated, and the picture is received by memory alternative reception to store in the memory in either of the cases. Thus, when reception is finished, a print task is started to discriminate whether or not there is a picture given memory alternative reception. When there are picture data which are given memory alternative reception and stored in the memory, and printing of the received data is instructed, a recording task is started to execute printing (S215) when a color cartridge is set (S212) at the time of recording the color picture, and otherwise, a warning is displayed (S217).
