PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make displayable a superposed image without reducing visibility of a base image by alternately superposing two odd and even address pixel patterns of an overwriting image on the base image. SOLUTION: A T-shaped road part 10, a star-marked building 11 and a green belt 12 such as a park represented by a circle having a large number of protrusions around it are displayed in a base image (a map image) 1. An odd address pixel pattern 6 and an even address pixel pattern 7 are alternately superposed on the base image 1 so that a superposed image (a display image) 3 is created. Both the patterns 6, 7 are switched at a high speed (e.g. every 1/60 sec). In this high-speed switching, a synthesized information image 15 becomes semitransparent so that characters, symbols and patterns in an overwriting image (an information image) 2 are clearly displayed on a display screen, while the base image 1 is displayed on areas except the characters, the symbols and the patterns. |
