PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate avoidance of storage of a document in a file system by easily canceling transfer of read image data to a storage side before transfer of the read image data to the storage side in the case that same data as the read image data are transferred to a storage means to request its storage. SOLUTION: After storing tentatively read image data by a scanner 14 to a hard disk unit 19, the data are processed to be transferred to an external file system to store the data therein. When a transfer cancellation key placed on a keyboard 21 of an operation display section 18 is depressed in this case, the transfer processing of the read image data is cancelled to inhibit storage of the data in the file system.
