PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized rotationally operated electronic component for outputting a prescribed electric signal by a rotational operation, having a high and stable torque, imparting a smooth operation feeling, and excellent in a life characteristic. SOLUTION: A rotation shaft 11 having a flange part 11C on a periphery of a lower end part is rotatably fitted and supported in a circular through hole 12C of a bearing 12. A friction plate 14 is fitted in an opening part of a lower end of a hole 11E formed around the center of the rotation shaft 11, such that the friction plate 14 corotates with the rotation shaft 11 but can move vertically independent of the rotation shaft 11. A compression coil spring 13 disposed in the hole 11E brings the friction plate 14 into elastic contact with a bottom surface 15A of a box-shaped case 15, while bringing a flat part of an upper surface of the flange part 11C of the rotation shaft 11 into elastic contact with a flat part of a lower surface of a base plate part 12B of the bearing 12. Thereby, this rotationally operated electronic component has a high torque, imparts a smooth operation feeling and has a superior life characteristic even when it is miniaturized.
