PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image recorded on a photographic sensitive material to be read on an optimum reading condition. SOLUTION: It is judged whether image size and resolution are set or not (202). When the image size and the resolution are set, the reading condition (at least one out of optical magnification, the F-number of a lens, the number of reading pixels, storage time, sub-scanning speed and irradiation light quantity) corresponding to the set image size and the set resolution is set (204). Then, the image is read on the set reading condition (206) and image data obtained by reading the image is stored in a memory (208).
