PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector constituted so that an excellent lamp characteristic can be exhibited. SOLUTION: This projector is provided with a display means forming an optical picture for projection by spatially modulating illumination light based on a video signal, an illumination means consisting of a lamp for a light source 1 and a reflector 2 and generating the illumination light and a projection optical system projecting the optical picture on a projection screen. Then, the lamp 1 can be exchanged for the different type of lamp.
