PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability by grouping characters and marks, recording position thereof on a display screen, and copying the group of characters and marks. SOLUTION: A scanned image is displayed by a display device 2, and a scanned image recorded in a recording device 5 can be displayed by the display device 2 at the same time. Character string or mark string is input to three points (a, b, c) of the scanned image by an input device 3. At this stage, if one assume that the center coordinates of a screen of the display device 2 are (0, 0), the coordinates of a point (a) are (x1, y1), those of a point (b) are (x2, y2), and those of a point (c) are (x3, y3), the coordinates of each of the three points are expressed by (1/2x1, 1/2y1) for point (a), (1/2x2, 1/2y2) for point (b), (1/2x3, 1/2y3) for point (c). When the magnification of the scanning image is set at 1/2 times. Size of the character string and mark string recorded in the points (a), (b), (c) can be changed per a unit of group in response to the changed magnification. The character string and the mark string can be copied and moved as it is.
