PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for measuring the original shape of a planar article placed on a supporting jig while being deformed with its own weight without requiring a suspension crane or a large scale facility. SOLUTION: In the shape measuring method of planar article for measuring the displacement in the height direction of a planar article placed on a plurality of supporting jigs, the current shape of a planar article 9 placed on a supporting jig 1 is measured (shape measuring 3), a distribution load acting on the planar article 9 is determined based on the weight and area thereof, a point load acting on the planar article 9 is determined by measuring the load at every supporting jig 1 (load measuring section 2), elastic deformation of the planer article 9 is determined assuming the distribution load and the point load as external forces (operating section 5), and the elastic deformation is subtracted from the measured current profile.
