PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transferring speed of picture data from a manual scanner to an output device without providing two systems of communication paths independent from each other. SOLUTION: The picture data transferring device is provided with UART (universal synchronous receiver transmitter) circuits 16, 26 transmitting and receiving information required for transferring picture data between a handy scanner 2 and a facsimile equipment main body 1, a clock synchronizing data input circuit 17 and a clock synchronizing data output circuit 27 transferring picture data to the main body 1 from the scanner 2 by clock synchronizing communication, a communication path shared by the communication between the circuits 16 and 26 and the communication between the circuit 17 and the circuit 27, an selectors for switching the state of connecting the communication path with the circuits 16, 17 or the state of connecting with the circuit 17 and the circuit 27.
