PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the startability of an HID lamp and keep power characteristics and power output constant even if the voltage of the lamp becomes higher than usual. SOLUTION: This power supply equipment is provided with switching elements S1-S4, diodes D1-D6, inductors L1, L2, and a smoothing capacitor C1. This equipment is also installed with a control circuit 11. When the right side of a switching element S7 and of an AC power supply AC becomes negative, the control circuit 11 repeatedly conducts a series of control in which it turns only the switching elements S2, S3 on and then turns only the switching element S7 on and finally turns all the switching elements off. When the right side becomes positive, it repeatedly conducts a series of control in which it turns only the switching elements S1, S4 on and then turns only the switching element S7 on and finally turns all the switching elements off. |
