PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make automatically measurable the number of fishes, the body length and the weight thereof by providing a sensor for detecting a fish when it passes through an opening formed through a submerged part of a mover sunk in a fish preserve. SOLUTION: The mover 1 is movably disposed in a water tank 20 and composed of a peripheral edge, a frame 2 and a fish-blocking net 3 mounted on the frame 2. An opening 1a allowing only one fluke to pass through is bored through the water tank 20 near its bottom. The mover 1 vertically inserted down and sunk near one wall of the tank 20 is moved to the other wall. The fluke sensing the water flow from a nozzle 5 and the approaching mover 1 goes away from the bottom face and passes through the opening 1a to an adjacent chamber. The mover 1 is moved until no fluke exists between the other wall and the mover. A CCD 11 near the opening 1a detects the fluke passing through the opening 1a, its signal is sent to an image processor 13 which converts to the number of flukes and the body length thereof, and a printer 7 outputs them as measured values.
