PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a stoker driving device to appropriately drive a stoker in accordance with a burning state and the damaged state of the stoker, by providing a cylinder controller which controls an oil-quantity control valve so that the piston of a hydraulic cylinder may operate at a desired speed and a desired stroke position. SOLUTION: A control section is composed of a combustion controller 21 and a stoker driving device 22. The device 22 is provided with a hydraulic cylinder 23 for driving stoker, an oil quantity control valve 24 which controls the quantity of oil supplied to the cylinder 23, a displacement detector 25 which detects the displacement of the piston of the cylinder 23, and a cylinder controller 26 which controls the valve 24 so that the piston of the cylinder 23 may operate at a desired speed and a desired stoke position. The detector 25 measures the absolute position of the piston of the cylinder 23. The valve 24 arbitrarily sets the forwarding and backwarding speeds and stopping position of the cylinder 23 by controlling the controlled oil quantity to the valve 24.
